Leadership

Introduction

Utilizing the feedback from more than 5,500 managers and supervisors over the past 3½ years, I have created some extraordinary tools for learning, leading, and performing. Combining these tools with pertinent sections from my new book - Embrace the Tiger, currently in publication, I have brought to life a powerful and timely workshop presentation that drives home new principles of leadership; principles based on integrity as well as those of duty, honor, and country. My uncommon tools will provide top leaders with a finer focus on superior leadership, challenges of change, diversity of workforce, and elimination of harassment. This focus brings into play attributes of integrity character, courage and perseverance then applies them to the current mission and vision of each command. These are exciting times. There are many changes and challenges ahead and each is fraught with danger. These times are extraordinary; your leadership must be extraordinary too. Together, we will help your people develop the skills necessary for them to succeed in what is perhaps the hardest job of all: the job of Leadership.

Overview

In climates of uncertainty, unpredictability and change, TOP leadership must at all times maintain successes and show strength. Without that, the leadership unity of the entire organization will be broken. Unfailing trust and commitment of the leaders are needed to sustain the willing and enthusiastic cooperation of other managers and the employees. Awareness and application of tested and proven leadership principles are essential. Yet, even this is not enough; not in these days of uncertainty. For optimum leadership, senior leaders must transcend being good and rise to greatness. For that, you need to build on their integrity, and make it stronger.

Managers and supervisors today need champions. They need people who they believe in and feel will guide them through what many describe as chaos. Managers need guidance too. They need to know not only how to survive but to thrive. They need to be assured that if they apply themselves to their duties, there will be rewards and that the degree of their application will open new opportunities for them; even in uncertain times. Leaders who are willing to become heroes and mentors to the workforce are essential to the decorum of the workplace. They are the only ones who have the ability to turn negative attitudes and resistance into positive attitudes and unity. Most often, it is heroes like these who make the contribution that leads to the survival of a command.

Where does your leadership come from? From the ranks, usually. Many have climbed up the ladder one step at a time and genuinely learned thus earned their role. Others have been thrown into leadership. Most got to where they are simply by being good managers and making the right moves, or being in the right place at the right time. Today, it is different. Today, a manager must have the ability to inspire others to do what must be done; to cause others to look past their anxieties and take responsibility for emotional control; to awaken in followers the passion to be highly productive and contributive team members and perhaps leaders themselves as well. That takes training. That also takes integrity. My program is designed to utilize proven strategies to build the skills of today's manager to the point of meeting today's leadership challenges and, with the addition of integrity-based leadership, succeeding.

Our formula for success is simple and straightforward in application. We teach:

  • That a leader has integrity
  • That a leader is a person who has followers
  • That these followers are volunteers
  • That the leaders demonstrate to the followers the best methods to achieve success in the current environment
  • That the leaders are experts in and practitioners of these methods

We need fewer managers who are maintaining and holding things in place and more leaders who are guides through change. Integrity Based Leadership sustains long term success by focusing the performance criteria of leaders and enables leaders to:

  • Develop a capability to earn trust and sustain it
  • Build commitment towards the vision of the organization
  • Use ethics in decision making so they do not punish nor jeopardize followers
  • Develop the indefinable ability to inspire others to action
  • Limit the influence of stereotypes
  • Shape the 5 character qualities of outstanding leaders
  • Unleash creativity and innovative action within your followers
  • Learn specific methods for reframing present ways of thinking
  • Apply sensible ways to prevent sexual harassment
  • Gain the willing enthusiastic cooperation of others as volunteers
  • Know how to win and make the desire for winning contagious
  • Demonstrate the capacity to lead by thoughts, actions, and beliefs
  • Comprehend your way of thinking and feelings about diversity
  • Neutralize the negative impacts of stress
Strategy

Through extensive research I have defined leadership to its highest and most effective levels. I have developed the formulas to teach and bring forward the innate leadership capabilities that may be latent potential for many. Those who posses these competencies and are good leaders now and have potential to become great leaders. Leadership is a science and can be learned. Leadership effectiveness can be developed to higher levels of understanding through clear guidance and directions.

There are four clear demands of leadership, as follows:

  • Purpose - helps define reality, meaning and direction


  • Trust - the social glue that binds commitment


  • Optimism - that fires their spirit


  • Action and Results - to feel a sense of accomplishment

Leaders must know how to meet and exceed these demands. Subordinates must know, without thinking about it, that their leaders are trusted, not only within their own organization, but outside it too. For with that trust, build on integrity, comes all the good things in the workplace.
